Women

2021 Award For Best Three-Dimensional Design from 6th Annual-Persian-Art in Irving Art Accusation

Project Duration:

Fall 2017

This project focuses on the role of women in Eastern societies, where cultural norms often restrict women’s ability to make independent decisions, relying instead on male family members to make key choices on their behalf. Through a 3D laser-cut illustration, I sought to represent this complex issue by layering each element, creating a visual narrative that evolves depending on the viewer's perspective.

The design, crafted on a wooden board, presents a complete illustration when viewed from the front, yet as one moves closer, individual elements—particularly representations of women—become more prominent, symbolizing their presence and strength within the work. I incorporated Persian words to highlight the transformative power of language, illustrating how words can be catalysts for change in a woman’s life.

The piece serves as a statement of empowerment, reflecting the resilience of Muslim women. It emphasizes their ability to overcome societal barriers, speak up for themselves, and live independent, successful lives despite the hardships they may face. This work aims to inspire and celebrate the strength of women, especially in regions where their voices have often been silenced.
